Windows 10 20H1 is the first major Windows 10 update of 2020, and it should be coming soon, promising to bring loads of new features to Microsoft’s popular operating system.We still don’t have an exact date for Windows 10 20H1, also known as Windows 10 version 2004, but we’ve already got some details on the new features coming.
Windows 10 20H1 will introduce a “new Cortana experience” that introduces the ability to type or speak “natural language queries” to the chatty assistant.In a nutshell, that means users can ask more questions than ever before, either by using their voice or their keyboard.Better still, Cortana now supports both light and dark themes in Windows 10 and should deliver “significantly improved performance”.
The Settings app now gives you more control over how much bandwidth is used for downloading Windows updates. In current versions of Windows, you can set a bandwidth limit as a percentage of your bandwidth. Windows 10 20H1 will let you set a precise “Absolute bandwidth” limit in Mbps for more accurate throttling of downloaded updates. This option was previously available in Group Policy but is now available to everyone in Settings.To find the update bandwidth limiting options on any version of Windows 10, head to Settings > Update & Security > Delivery Optimization > Advanced options.
Language settings should also be easier to understand with this update. The main page will now include links to all the major language and region settings, including the Windows language, app language, regional format, and more. Additionally, if you’re using multiple languages and installing different langue features, Windows now lets you know what each feature enables so you can tell if you need it or not.
The update will ship with other improvements as well including greater control over Windows Update and Microsoft Store bandwidth usage.According to Microsoft’s typical release schedule, Windows 10’s 20H1 (version 2004) update will begin rolling out to mainstream users in April or May.
